Today for the 1,309,847,747,521,268th time….someone asked why I like Starbucks so much. It became quite obvious that my usual, “bcuz they’re awesome” answer, was becoming less and less convincing. So I thought for a few brief moments and came up with a perfect answer. “Well to me, Starbucks isn’t just a coffee shop. If I simply liked them for just coffee, I’d be content going to Wal-Mart buying a bag there coffee and making it at home. This would allow me stay either completely naked or in just underwear, which is a pretty good upside if you ask me lol. But its more than just a great cup of coffee. It’s more of the atmospheric euphoria that is synonymous with the name (insert angelic chords, white doves, and emanating soft white light here) “Starbucks”. Don’t get me wrong I love their products as well….but Starbucks is kinda like a thing for me. I love the interaction of the baristas with the customers. The way all the people there are so uniquely different. From their style, to their heritage. Their background, to political party. Or their sexual orientation to their age range. It doesn’t matter. We’re all at Starbucks. You can’t say the same about Wal-Mart or McDonald’s. All of us are here united for one common interest. And while here….everyone is always happy, and everyone is friends. If you liked your vanilla latte hot or iced doesn’t matter. Tall or trenta? No judgement there either. If you’re slightly overweight, (like most of us Americans are lol) I challenge you to go to any other fast food restaurant and observe the reaction of the fellow customers around you. So much judgement. But never at Starbucks. The environment is so relaxing as well. The smell of coffee being ground. Or the constant hum of a blender in the background? Don’t forget about the occasional gurgling from the steamed milk. The light drone of keys of MacBooks typing away. Various cellphone alerts? The slight chuckle of the girl a few tables over as she looks up from her Kindle, now realizing that that chuckle was actually audible as she bashfully returns to her novel? Oh, lets not forget the giggling group of 16 year old girls who could only wish to someday be as cool as all the other people already in Starbucks. All of these things…some annoying or either cute on their own, all blended together make one of the best study group settings you could ever find. In addition to all these amazing aforementioned things, we still have the icing left to put on this cake. WiFi. It needs no further explanation. Everything I need to say can be condensed into two words, forming the most perfect of perfect sentences in history. *insert pause here for anticipation* Free WiFi. So in summation, Starbucks is simply my happy place. From the moment I approach the building and that heavenly aroma hits me. To when I’m driving away already regretting that I should’ve gone for venti instead if the grande. I’m just happy. :)”
As I snap out of my internal monologue, I simply state in response to why I like Starbucks so much….they’re awesome.
